G’day folks, we hope you are all well and enjoying your summer (the cricket) and looking forward to your respective well earned holidays. As usual, the Chissell’s have all been busy and have generally recovered from the variety of bugs etc. that circulate during the winter months.
Ryan recently celebrated his 3rd birthday in June and despite being dosed up on antibiotics and recovering from a very scary case of Croup. He still managed to have a great time. A huge thank you to everyone who sent such lovely gifts and birthday cards, they really perked up his spirits. He is a very lucky little boy!
Phil had fun playing ‘Bare Foot Bowling’ with work colleagues in the city and Conor gained his heritage badge during a nautical trip with the scouts. We all joined him on a tour of HMAS Diamantina, a warship utilised during the war in the Pacific. Olivia was rapt to be paired with one of the older scouts and headed off confidently to tour the ship and complete the questionnaire.
Barefoot Bowling by the Brisbane River.
Conor and his good friend Lachlan J.Time to break out the packed lunch!
Olivia recently gave a performance with her ‘Prep’ class at the local shopping centre in Cleveland. She looked radiant on the day and yes I shed a tear or three.
We are really chuffed with Conor and Olivia’s recent School Reports; it is so reassuring to know that they have settled in so well to the Aussie style school system. In fact, Conor’s best friend at school mentioned that he thought Conor no longer had an English accent, which gave Conor (and mummy) great pleasure.
Huge congratulations must go to Connie and Simon on the safe arrival of baby George. We are so thrilled for you both and wish we could be there to give him a big cuddle. His photographs are so cute, so please keep them coming.
A big happy birthday to my little sister Sheelagh who turned ** in June and to my wonderful Mum who celebrated another milestone this month. Happy birthday to our little niece Zaria, little Ethan and birthday wishes from the opposite side of Oz to you Georgina, . We miss you all loads and wish we could have shared your special day with you each of you. Xxx
Despite the chill (by Oz standards), we also joined our friends Steve and Hazel for a BBQ by the beach in Wynnum. Little man Cooper is growing up so fast!
The best highlight though was the fun packed visit from Granny (Phil’s mum) this month which whizzed by far too quickly. We are missing you very much Penny. Thank you for the thoughtful gifts and babysitting the Chisslets so that Phil and I could see the ‘Deluxe’ session (dinner /drinks during the screening) of ‘Bruno’ which was hilarious and very much appreciated.
Penny with the children at the Brisbane Planetarium and viewing Brisbane from Mount Cooth-Tha.
Strolling aroung the beautiful Botanical Gardens. I wish we had one of these chiming things (above) for our garden. The children loved it and the sounds were quite ethreal.
Follwowed by scrummy Seafood Platters at a Greek Taverna on the South Bank.
Time to cruise back down the river and head home to bed.
Exploring the tropical rain forest at Mount O’Reillys at Lamington National Park. The canopy above is suspended above the rain forest floor and was very wobbly :-)
Feeding the Crimson and Australian Parrots to the delight of the children. They were not so keen on them landing on their heads though! :-)
We will leave you with a snap of the latest visitors to Chez Chissell. They are so gorgeous and we will never get used to seeing them nestling in the trees of our garden. They are called Rainbow Lorikeets which are also of the Parrot family.
STOP PRESS: We have also discovered Oranges and Lemons growing on our trees – who knew? So there is much excitement and anticipation for them to ripen.
Take care you bogan hoons and drop us a line with all your news too!
Big hugs, Mrs and Mr C xxx
